Summer has basically come and gone since I had time to write last. It is now August and I can't believe we didn't do anything very fun.
In June we had Relay for Life. I was the Chairman so it was a crazy time. We stayed all night until 6 AM. Everyone had lots of fun.
We spent weekends trying to swim and unpack the stuff in the house. The house is liveable in all rooms but there is still lots of work to do.
Zaylei got her new "playground" this summer. She loves it. We are going to paint it and put some carpet in it. and make it homey for her. Hopefully when the temperature isn't 105 it will be more fun for her.
Matt is working and helping Kenny and Heather Clayton to create a menu at the new L&R Soda Shop. He has also designed a sign for them. He is going to help train their employees and do food costs and ordering. I think he will enjoy it. It is his expertise.
Matt's sister Brigette and family came down to visit. They had planned to stay for a week but ended up leaving after 2 days to head back to West Virginia. Matt's dad, POP (Bob), has been sick for several years and got worse fairly quickly this summer.
While Brigette, Kevin, Ashley, Emily, and Maddie were here we did go to the Water Park for a day of fun. We made homemade ice cream and it was Brigette's first time eating it....they went home and bought an ice cream maker. Maddie and Zaylei played the entire time they were here. They played really well together and had a blast. They missed each other when we were all back in our own homes.
When Brigette and Kevin left, Matt followed them back to West Virginia and took Zaylei with him. She played with Maddie most days while they were there. Unfortunately POP passed away while they were there. What a great man. We will all miss him so much. He was one of the most gentle and loving men I have ever known. I will certainly miss him and I know everyone else will as well. Matt stayed in West Virginia for 3 weeks to help Sandy with funeral and estate issues. We are glad he is back home!
Stefanie has been really busy at work. The Christian County Middle School hired her to do the furnishings package. Whew, what an endeavor. Hopefully the next one will not be such a challenge.
The best part of our summer was LOLA WAS BORN!!! Tiffany and Matthew's 1st baby was born!!! She is such a sweet cutie. We are all in love with her. Zaylei can't wait to play with her. She ask to see her everyday. We are so excited she is here!!! She is no stranger to the camera already.
So that is our summer. Not too much fun but it has sure been busy!! Hopefully we can do something that is just a little fun soon.
